Welcome to Mountain District Christian School – a nurturing P-12 educational community in the Dandenong Ranges outside Melbourne. We are a non-denominational, parent-controlled school, unified in our mission as a school, but diverse in our expressions of our Christian faith.
The terms “Christian” and “Christ-centred” are both used to describe our school. At MDCS we see all our students as God’s uniquely gifted creations and we seek to work with students and families to develop those gifts for making a difference in God’s world. We aim to encourage all our students in their faith, developing their understanding of God and growing in their relationship with Jesus.
In all of our subject areas, our teachers begin their planning by looking at the curriculum through a biblical lens, and seek to ask questions that guide our students towards a deeper understanding of God’s world, with compassion, respect and love for those around them.
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; Psalm 24:1
Education at MDCS is delivered by teachers with a biblical worldview, aiming for our students develop a similar world view of their own. We believe that this is God’s world, and that He has a plan for all who dwell in it. We celebrate human discovery, scientific endeavour and engage with current issues. We teach the Victorian Curriculum and embrace all study areas, equipping students to be wise, academically rigorous, work-ready and discerning. We are called to be salt and light to the world – engaging with the culture around us and remaining faithful to Jesus’ teaching. We acknowledge God’s sovereignty in all areas and prepare students to live lives that serve and honour God.
MDCS values partnerships with our families. We have a vibrant and engaging community in our school; parents are strongly invested in their children’s education. We seek to support parents in encouraging Christian values in their children, in the development of a faithful Christian-character that lasts a life-time.
